January 11, 2012 - According to reports a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Burbank. According to police the accident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Buena Vista Street and Alameda Avenue.
Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said the motorcyclist identified as Arthur Apelson 76 year old Los Angeles man collided with a vehicle. Apelson was riding a Honda Shadow 650 traveling north on Buena Vista and was making a left hand turn onto Alameda Avene when the collision occurred.
Sgt. Ryburn said the motorcycle collided with a Mazda 6 four door sedan driven by a 26 year old man, identified as Matt Black. According to Sgt. Ryburn, Black was traveling south on Buena Vista in the Mazda 6 traveling through the intersection when the collision occurred in this Burbank motorcycle accident. The Burbank police officer stated that the Mazda was unable to avoid the collision and the motorcycle that was making a left hand turn would have had to yield to through traffic.
The motorcyclist, Apelson was transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center with a fractured right femur and severed right thumb. Sgt. Ryburn stated that alcohol did not play a role in the collision and no citations have been issued. He said the motorcycle collision remains under investigation.
