December 31, 2011-According to reports a motorcyclist suffered major injuries in a solo crash on Ortega Highway. According to the California Highway Patrol a Saturday morning solo motorcycle crash occurred on Ortega Highway in Riverside County.
California Highway Patrol Officer Jesse Udovich it is believed that the motorcyclist lost control of the bike. The motorcyclist went off of the side of the highway crashing in the vicinity of the Ortega Oaks Candy Store. Officer Udovich stated that the candy store is located three miles east of the Riverside and Orange County border.
According to CHP officer Udovich paramedics arriving on the scene found the motorcyclist in full cardiac arrest. The biker was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center in Murrieta. He said there have been some media reports that the motorcyclist has died, but is unable to confirm whether the biker has died or not. The Ortega Highway traffic was backed up into Orange County after the motorcycle crash, with one lane being closed for approximately two hours and reopening at approximately 11:15 a.m.
California Highway Patrol Officer Udovich stated that it is unclear what caused the motorcycle crash and further details about the rider were unavailable.
