Long Beach Motorcycle Officer Injured in Morning Crash

December 15, 2011 -According to reports a Long Beach motorcycle officer was injured in a Thursday morning crash. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway, in the vicinity of Magnolia Avenue.

The crash occurred when the Long Beach motorcycle officer was splitting lanes between the fast lane and carpool lanes. The driver of a Toyota Corolla crossed the double yellow line leaving the carpool lane striking the officers motorcycle, according to CHP Officer Jose Perdomo.

According to CHP Officer Perdomo the impact of the crash knocked the Long Beach officer off of the motorcycle causing him to suffer injuries. One of the injuries the officer suffered was to his right arm. The Long Beach motorcycle officer was transported to UCI Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol traffic was backed up in the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway and the accident scene and all lanes of traffic cleared at approximately 9:40 a.m.
