April 27, 2011 - According to reports there were at least three separate motorcycle crashes that caused traffic backups on three different freeways.
The first motorcycle crash of the day occurred at approximately 6:35 a.m. when a motorcycle and SUV collided on the I-5 Freeway in the southbound lanes, north of Redhill Avenue. The motorcycle according to witnesses was down in the middle lanes. The injuries the rider sustained in the collision were not reported and a SigAlert was issued that was later canceled at approximately 7:30 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol there was a collision at approximately 8:00 a.m. involving a motorcycle that occurred in the eastbound lanes of the 22 Freeway. The collision occurred in the vicinity east of City Drive. There was no SigAlert was issued in this motorcycle crash.
According to the California Highway Patrol one motorcycle crash was reported at 8:37 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway in the vicinity of North East Street, causing a SigAlert to be issued. The crash involved a Yamaha motorcycle, a Ford E-350 van, a Lincoln LS and a BMW 525i. The motorcycle rider sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
